This injury can occur in 1.6% to 64% of patients with knee dislocations, often without immediate symptoms, which may delay diagnosis and treatment. The popliteal artery's anatomical position makes it vulnerable to damage from high-energy impacts, such as falls or vehicular accidents. Initial assessments may show normal vascular circulation, complicating timely intervention. Therefore, clinicians must conduct serial evaluations and consider imaging, like CT angiography, especially in cases of high-energy trauma or multiple ligament injuries.
