This week’s ElecSoul episode is shaped by belief, disruption and the deep layers of history I felt standing inside Córdoba’s cathedral mosque. Summer 2024 I took a photo of that interior arches stretching in every direction, light drifting through a space that once held one of the most extraordinary mosques on earth, now containing a cathedral built right into its centre. To understand that tension, you have to understand the disruption: The original Great Mosque of Córdoba was created in the 8th century, during a period when the city was alive with learning, art, science, poetry and spiritual expression. When Christian forces took Córdoba in 1236, they consecrated the mosque as a cathedral. But the real rupture came in the 16th century, when a cathedral nave was built inside the mosque not out of architectural need, but symbolism. A statement of power, dominance and control. Even King Charles V later regretted authorising it, saying they had destroyed “something unique in the world.” That conflict beauty held inside disruption shaped how I approached this mix. The first 20 minutes sit lower-tempo, a blend of live jazz, blues-inflected soul and reflective groove. Space to breathe. Space to absorb. From there, I shift into electronica, rhythm, movement and finally return to my foundation: soulful house, the heartbeat that always carries me home. The journey: Brandee Younger — Breakfast with Adrianna Carlos Niño & Friends — Calimayan (feat. Nate Morgan & Yaakov Levy) Curtis Mayfield — Eddie You Should Know Better Eric Burdon & War — Spill the Wine Eugene McDaniels — Headless Hero Om Unit — Back At Plastic (Mr. Beatnick Remix) Hector Plimmer — Into The Dark Werkha — Humour This M-Scape — I Do (Original Mix) Rick Lenoir — With You (The Dubstrumental) Soul II Soul — A Dreams A Dream (Ron Trent Refix) Terry Hunter, Lauren Eylise — M.I.A. (Terry Hunter Main Mix) Bobby & Steve, Byron Stingily, DJ Pope — They Can’t Understand It (DJ Pope Organ Dub Remix)

WARRIOR
ELECSOUL WARRIOR This week’s ElecSoul carries the spirit of quiet strength. I caught this image of a spider building a huge web. Silent, patient, and focused. Every move deliberate. It knows the struggle’s real, but it still creates, knowing that what’s meant to come, will. That energy runs through the mix — deep, soulful, and resilient. Each track spun with intent, another thread in the web. Joyce Wrice & Kaytranada – Iced Tea
Roy Ayers – Green And Gold (Delfonic Rework)
Art Of Tones & Chatobaron – Pendant Ce Temps-là à Vera Cruz
Coflo & Cee. – Love’s Masquerade (Vick Lavender’s Time Traveler Remix)
Sandy Rivera & De Saint. – Understand Me
 Haldo & S.A.N.E – Please Come Through
Kings Of Tomorrow – Treat You Right (Sandy Rivera’s Classic Mix)
 Ron Carroll – Mysteries
Aaron Smith & IndiBlu – Riding Free (Masaki Morii Mix)
Life On Planets & Makez – Be Real
Rhano Burrell & Bas Noir – My Love Is Magic (Bushwacka! Edit)
 Rick Sanders – Wake Up
Tracy Hamlin, DJ Oji & Richard Payton – Once You Get Started (Alt Vocal Mix)
95 North – See The Light (Mentalinstrum Mix) Listen now at 🌐 www.djrobbieduncan.com/elecsoul
