Dr. Jessica Alvarez is a registered dietitian with a master's degree in clinical nutrition and a PhD in nutrition sciences from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Her research focuses on the role of nutrition and body composition on metabolism in chronic diseases, including cystic fibrosis and CF-related diabetes, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and chronic kidney disease. In 2017, Dr. Alvarez received The Distinguished Service by a Researcher Award from the Georgia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for her research accomplishments related to food and nutrition. She is not only a Distinguished Researcher (published in 158 instances across her career), but a Wife and mother of 2, as well as an avid crossfitter that has deadlifted 300lbs right in front of my very own eyes. My friend, Dr. Jessica Alvarez, welcome to the podcast.
