It’s time for podcast round three, and this time we’ve got someone very special to lay down a mix for us. Pirupa has spent four years grafting in the business, and in that small amount of time, his work has been found and picked up by some of the biggest names in the business. Having worked with everyone from Defected to Noir Music, in his second year in the game, this Italian scarlet was already one of Resident Advisor’s most charted artists of 2010. With tracks like Party Non Stop becoming a winter essential for any clued-up record collector, his mix for Egg was always bound to be something big. We caught up with Pirupa ahead of his set at Egg’s NYE party, ‘The One’.
1) Where, how and on what was the mix recorded?
It was recorded during the Suara showcase @ Chicago Social Club in Amsterdam for the ADE Event this year. Amazing gig and the club was sold out!
2) What are your highlights from 2013 so far? Any stand out moments?
I had some great moments this year, especially this summer when I played @ Space Ibiza and also @ Il Muretto in Jesolo. It has been a very busy summer and also this autumn/winter is busy as well!!
3) Your 'Time to get down" EP was released a few months ago, what was the creative process behind this?
Yes, the EP was created around the track "Let's Get It On" because it's the strong single of the EP with an old school vibe and an historical acappella. Then I added "Twix on Mars", a track in the dirtybird style, and the last track I did was "Slow Talk", I think this to be the more underground track of the EP. We had some great feedback and amazing support from Marco Carola , Matthias Tanzmann and Noir.
4) You're joining us on NYE with Tania Vulcano, Cassy and wAFF. What can we expect from your set?
You know, I like to play everything, from techno to house, from disco to deep, so expect the unexpected!!
5) Anything that you'd like to shout about?
I can't wait to join you guys for NYE @ Egg! London is a fantastic city and I already did another NYE here, and I always had fun!!
You can catch Pirupa at 'The One' NYE at Egg London alongside acts Miguel Campbell, Cassy, Tania Vulcano, wAFF and Matt Hughes click here for more information.
