La fuga secreta de las raíces

Esta investigación explora cómo la estructura espacial de la comunidad microbiana de las raíces está determinada por la planta. Los autores descubrieron que las fugas localizadas del aminoácido glutamina son un factor clave que impulsa la atracción y colonización bacteriana en sitios específicos de la raíz. Estas fugas ocurren en los lugares donde la barrera celular del endodermis, conocida como la banda de Caspari, está ausente o comprometida, creando nichos metabólicos favorables para la proliferación bacteriana. En última instancia, la integridad de esta barrera radicular es esencial para limitar el suministro de nutrientes y mantener un microbioma de raíces equilibrado, evitando así la proliferación excesiva de bacterias y la activación crónica de las respuestas inmunitarias de la planta.
