Michael Mann’s world building is exquisite. His casting is phenomenal. Pacino and De Niro in the diner is a once-in-a-lifetime meeting of two of cinema's giants in their prime.  As two opposing forces, their coffee break is like the World War 1 Christmas ceasefire between the French and German troops playing soccer in no mans land.
