Paul's intent here is that the Colossians would be filled with a deep, full, rich understanding of the grace of God that is theirs in Christ, a grace that stretches from eternity past when God set His will and predestined them to adoption as sons all the way through the present and into the future where they will spend eternity discovering the wonders of their inheritance in Christ as sons of God.
