Shawnee is a NICU nurse with 20 years of experience, a Lactation Consultant, an Infant Sleep Consultant but most of all she is a Mother. This book is her healing process and her mission to save other families from similar tragedies. It is also a story full of wonder and hope.
I wanted to take to time to read Shawnee’s book beforeposting this interview. Her story stirred up some grief in my body that I needed to take time to breath it through and integrate. I believe it is no accident that we have met.
“We tend to think of our suffering as personal, but we are threads in a larger fabric. If the fabric of our family (or other important group we’re part of) is tangled or torn, it deeply affects us, even when we’re unaware of it.” Chari Smith
I encourage you to pace yourself as you listen to this. Notice what sensations arise in your body. Take time to pause the recording, breath and let what is stirred up, integrate. If you need to support, reach out.
I am posting this in time for what would have been Baylie’s26th birthday on May 6th. Happy Birthday, Baylie!
