44. A Novel Mathematical Model for the Early Detection of Dengue Fever - Tarun Martheswaran
Our next guest is Tarun Martheswaran, researcher in clinical & computational epidemiology! 🦠Tarun has a strong background in mathematics and competed at the national level growing up, being a 5x American Invitational Mathematics Examination qualifier. Upon entering high school, he got involved in research in the Computational Epidemiology field and created an Early Detection Model for Dengue Fever. 🌡His project earned him a spot at ISEF 2019 and 2020 @society4science , a National award at the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium, and the opportunity to present at several International Conferences. Tarun is an IRIC InspoScience Grand Award Winner @insposcience (and invited to present at the American Association for Virology Conference), Young Scientist Journal (YSJ) International Conference in London winner and American Association of Cancer Research conference presenter. 🎤
Tarun also worked on a project titled "Body mass index and mammographic density among Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders," which deduces risk factors of women of different ethnicities and takes a specific look at the Native Hawaiian population. This summer, he was 1 of 4 ISEF 2020 finalists to be chosen for the WebValley 2020 team (application required finalist position), where he gained many more skills in Computational Biology and Data Science to create a single cell sequencing training package to be implemented into Italian universities. 🧬 Tarun loves teaching STEM more than anything in the world. As President and Founding Member of the organization Mission Math (missionmathutah.com), they create a love for math in every community across their state. 🙌 @missionmathutah LINK IN BIO • Tune in to discover more.
