43. Rip Current Detection with Deep Neural Networks and Artificial Intelligence- Boglárka Ecsedi
Let’s give a round of applause to Boglárka Ecsedi, who created an algorithm that detects rip currents using deep neural networks and artificial intelligence in computer image analysis. 🌊📸 Due to the difficulty of recognizing them and the unpredictability of their development, they cause numerous deaths worldwide. Her work was incubated at UC Santa Cruz 🌴 and was awarded First Prize at the Scientific and Innovation Talent Recruitment Contest for Youth by the Hungarian Association for Innovation. During the summer of 2020 she interned at imagiLabs and in Medical Physics at the Medical University of Vienna. 🩺The medical research group focuses on image-driven radiomic analysis of tumors to optimize treatment decision-making processes. Bogi is also a Junior Templeton Fellow, their program recognises exceptional cognitive talents. ⭐️ She’s a young member of the New York Academy of Sciences, a FameLab Hungary Finalist, TEDx speaker and Ambassador at the Association for Hungarian Women in Science.
This episode is the result of a collaboration with the Hungarian Association for Innovation that focuses its ample activities on the economy stimulating the role of innovation. 🇭🇺💡They do not only award exceptionally innovative companies but organise the most prestigious national youth innovation contest in the country and send student delegates to EUCYS, ISEF, SIYSS and the Nobel week and more. 🌍
