The word empowerment has been associated with negative connotations in recent times, but my guest has the word in her job description and is very passionate about her work. I am joined by Youth Empowerment Officer, Life Speaker and new Author, Ruth Lawrence. We get into what empowerment is and the journey that lead her into personal development work. We discussed the value of education and how it assisted her with overcoming the hurdles of growing up in an inner-city in a single parent household.
