Sleep Patterns and Chronic Disease Risk

Dr Sean's YouTube video discusses a study published in Nature Medicine examining the link between sleep patterns and chronic diseases. The study, using data from wearable devices like Fitbits, found significant associations between poor sleep quality, quantity, and regularity, and conditions such as obesity, hypertension, and depression.

Researchers employed long-term data from a large US research program, offering a more comprehensive understanding than previous studies. The video also recommends additional resources on sleep from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS).

Key findings highlight the importance of maintaining consistent, moderate sleep duration for optimal health.
