Hamid Ibrahim is the cofounder of Kugali Media, along with his cofounders they made history as the first company to collaborate with Disney to produce an original animation series. In this conversation, Hamid talks about what it took to achieve such a mile stone achievement creating Iwaju which he says "Is a love letter to Lagos, Nigeria." Hamid discusses being a founder and dealing with unexpected hurdles, finding and working with investors, meeting and talking to the President of Uganda and more.The Disney+ animated series "Iwájú" a co-production with Kugali Media, has received three Emmy nominations at the 2024 Children's & Family Emmy Awards. These nominations include Outstanding Children's or Young Teen Animated Series, Outstanding Younger Voice Performer in a Preschool, Children's, or Young Teen Program, and Outstanding Directing for an Animated Series (for the episode "Kole"). Additionally, "Iwájú" was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Animated Series.
