She takes on the mantle of Associate Editor for the esteemed Emerald International Journal of Tourism Cities and holds the Vice President role at ITSA. Her engagement goes even further as she takes charge as the Social Media Director for both these significant entities. Beyond her professional commitments, Dr. Vanessa is a prominent observer at the World Tourism Network. Over a decade of experience, she has imparted her knowledge across international universities and educational institutions. Her editorial contributions to scientific journals and her authored book chapters are a testament to her scholarly impact.
Dr. Vanessa's dedication to research has earned her accolades in Mauritius, India, and Africa. She's an elected member of the ICOMOS International Cultural Tourism Committee and a specialist member of the World Commission on Protected Areas and Tourism and Protected Areas. A co-founder, she has played a pivotal role in community-based initiatives, covering diverse areas such as island tourism, women empowerment, informal tourism economy, community-based tourism, and sustainable development.
