Can Europe rest easy knowing that 25% of the steel for Nord Stream 1 came from a Russian supplier? Or knowing that 60% of Nord Stream 2 is made from Russian steel? Even though the pipeline is not operating, Nord Stream 2 is currently full of natural gas, a highly toxic substance. Today we look at a deadly tragedy that occurred in 2005 and examine what can go wrong when steel isn’t as strong as it’s supposed to be.
