Harm Reduction: What You Need To Know

PAIN: Parents & Addicts in Need’s Founder, Flindt Andersen, and Jason LaChance sat down to discuss the controversial topic of long-term Vs short-term harm reduction. This Don't Hide the Scars podcast episode highlights the difficult truth that individuals struggling with drug addiction, especially those using fentanyl, may not prioritize safety measures like fentanyl test strips. It highlights the critical need for harm reduction strategies amidst the opioid crisis.

Flindt and Jason dive into the benefits of medication-assisted treatment, but present the side effects of long-term harm reduction medication use. As well, they question why those who achieved their sobriety through abstinence-based recovery would encourage others to use a long-term method that can include never easing use of medications such as methadone or suboxone.

We discuss the following and more.

Intro 00:00

Are we advocating for the right things concerning addiction? 3:0

Why are people in the treatment industry supporting long-term harm reduction? 10:00

How is data showing that fentanyl doesn't discriminate? 16:00

There are two types of treatment. What are they? 27:30
