She received her undergraduate degree in English Literature at Vassar College and her medical degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School. After completing her internal medicine residency and chief residency at Hennepin, she pursued a fellowship in academic internal medicine at Harvard, where she completed her MPH degree in clinical effectiveness. Over her 25-year career, she has held numerous leadership positions in medical education at the local and national level. Throughout her career, she has maintained a clinical practice, first in general internal medicine and now in palliative medicine, since completing her fellowship in 2021.In 2017, Anne took her first sailing course and hasn’t looked back. In the summer of 2023, she and her husband, Jim, sailed their Sun Odyssey 440 from Bayfield, WI, through Lakes Superior, Huron, Erie and Ontario, down the St. Lawrence Seaway, around the Gaspé Peninsula of Quebec, to Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia and ultimately to Newport, RI. Most recently, she sailed offshore from Lagos, Portugal to Horta, Faial, in the Azores – about 1250 nautical miles. She and Jim plan to live on their sailboat in the coming years.
