Here’s bunch of tunes I purchased on Beatport and then mixed immediately last night. A friend, Eva, sent me a clip of Funky Green Dogs’ classic ‘Reach For Me’ via WhatsApp. I went to play it only realised I didn’t have it... So, off to Beatport, where, of course, I was distracted by new releases too. Part two of the story is much more mundane. We were supposed to be hosting a Christmas party for 70 people last night but had to cancel the day before because I did my back in. Typical. Stuck at home feeling grouchy, Eva’s intervention and a little music shopping inspired me to reach for the headphones. This session is the result, mixed live in one take, with ‘Reach For Me’ at the heart of it. I only made one small edit to shorten Rhythm Masters’ take on ‘Been A Long Time’ - their version being a bit too dark compared to the other grooves on offer here. Everything else is disco and funky house with a few remixes of familiar faves thrown in the shopping bag for good measure. Enjoy! The basic design makes me think they’re at the discount end of the audio spectrum, but the retro font and 70s vibe seems fitting for this session.
