Only months after arriving in Vancouver, prophecy unfolded: Russia invaded Ukraine, and grief consumed us as war spread across our homeland. In this episode, I reflect on family history, the Holodomor, and our struggles to build a new life in Canada, where we discovered a harsher truth about the society around us.In this episode, I discuss the first years of our lives in Vancouver, Canada. Only three months after our arrival, Veronica’s oracle visions came to life as Russia invaded Ukraine—occupying Crimea and igniting war in the eastern regions. As Ukrainians by birth, we were struck with grief and anxiety, paralyzed as we watched the Maidan protesters being killed and the war tear apart our homeland from afar.I reflect on the historical wounds that shaped this moment: the fate of my grandmother, whose family was stripped of everything in the 1920s, the children sent to orphanages, and the horrors of the Holodomor that claimed millions of Ukrainian lives. I also share the truths of how to build a truly communist society and what needs to be accomplished from the spiritual level to create such a society. As these shadows resurfaced, we tried to settle into our new life—I pursued an MFA in Film Production and Creative Writing, and worked as an assistant editor at the School of Social Work.Yet exile was not our refuge. Soon, we faced another struggle: navigating the cruelty of Canadian society, where hostility toward immigrants, deep-seated hatred of Americans, sympathy for tyranny, and utopian dreams of a future Canada inspired by Soviet Union ideas reminded us of the very systems we thought we had left behind. We encountered new trials—conflicts, rejections, bullying, and intolerance—within a society that mirrored the shadows we felt we had left behind. Our new home revealed not only the weight of history but also the hidden nature of the world around us. But these struggles revealed themselves as part of our spiritual journey, testing our faith, stripping illusions, and calling us to see the hidden nature of nations and the truth of our souls' highest path.In the clash between ideas, beliefs, societies, and souls, destiny continued to guide us—through grief, conflict, and the search for the reasons why the Spirits of the land summoned us to come to Vancouver.
