Saving Lives Through Sehat Kahani Telemedicine Network | Healthcare Ecosystem & Pharmacies | Ep #17

Sehat Kahani founders are with us today in our podcast, Dr. Sara Saeed Khurram & Dr. Iffat Zafar, CEO and COO of Sehat Kahani Pakistan have worked to address the issue of healthcare system availability by driving systematic changes through their women-led telemedicine solution. Sehat Kahani is now Pakistan’s most successful startup in healthcare and they have incorporated with more than 50 companies of Pakistan to provide healthcare facilities to their employees along with providing primary healthcare facility across Pakistan to thousands of people.

In Pakistan, becoming a doctor raises the social status of women and gives them the best hand in marriage, but this is followed by the expectation that they discontinue working after marriage. With a population of 20 million people, Pakistan has a total medical workforce of nearly 250,000 certified doctors, and a doctor-to-patient ratio of one per 1,000. Sehat Kahani enables women who cannot have on-site practice to pursue their career and dream of becoming a practicing Dr.

Along with Teleclinic and online consultation with the doctors they are also working on pharmacies and they have just launched their first one in Pakistan. We also discussed about healthcare problems faced in rural areas of the country like Balochistan and KPK. How COVID brings opportunities for Sehat Kahani and how mental health is a serious concern in Pakistan. We also talked about how Doctors are working in a very low scale salary and how they survive in current economical conditions.
