Pitru Paksha is a 16–lunar day period in Hindu calendar when Hindus pay homage to their ancestor, especially through food offerings. The period is also known as Pitru Pakshya, Pitri Pokkho, Solah Shraddha, Kanagat, Jitiya, Mahalaya Paksha and Apara Paksha.
