Diabetes 360: Season 8, Episode 9
Many people are at risk for both diabetes and heart attacks. Millions of people take statin drugs to lower bad cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart attacks. But could these drugs also increase the risk for type 2 diabetes? Host Krista Lamb talks to Dr. Jonathan Schertzer about his work on improving the safety and effectiveness of statins. Dr. Schertzer is an associate professor in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences at McMaster University, who holds a Canada Research Chair in Metabolic Inflammation. He is also the winner of Diabetes Canada’s 2023 Early Career Researcher Award.Listener SurveyAs Diabetes Canada plans for the future of the podcast, we'd love to hear from both new and loyal listeners in this 2-minute listener survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/diabetescanadapodcast (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/diabetescanadapodcast)
