धर्मवीर भारती के शब्दों में – राधा आज उसी अशोक वृक्ष के नीचे, उन्हीं मंजरियों से अपनी कंवारी मांग भरे खड़ी है इस प्रतीक्षा में कि जब महाभारत की अवसान वेला में अपनी अठारह अक्षोहिणी सेना के विनाश के बाद निरीह, एकाकी और आकुल कृष्ण किसी भूले हुए आँचल की छाया में विश्राम पाने लौटेंगे तो वह उन्हें अपने वक्ष में शिशु सा लपेट लेगी।
