Episode 65 - The 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Fukushima Nuclear Disaster

This week, we're discussing the2011 Tohoku Earthquake and subsequent nuclear disaster that would occur at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant. A magnitude 9 earthquake would strike the island nation, bringing with it tsunami of up to 133 feet in height and washing away entire towns. These very same waves would over wash the protective barriers at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant and would lead to the eventual meltdown and release of radioactive material into the environment.
