Deep Medicine | Different origins of cognitive impairment: implications for behavioural and pharmacologic intervention
Welcome to this, the first in the series of Deep Medicine, with your host Dr Alexander Gray, the Chief Medical Officer of IDEA Pharma. Today Alex has been joined by Alexander Leff, Professor of Cognitive Neurology and Consultant Neurologist, Department of Brain Repair and Rehabilitation, at the Institute of Neurology, University College London, London, UK. Professor Leff is a pioneer in the field of cognitive rehabilitation. Alex had a chance to discuss with him the differences he sees between cognitive deficits in psychiatric conditions versus those in people who have had a stroke, and discuss the boundaries between behavioural approaches and potential pharmacologic strategies in managing patients with different types of cognitive impairment.
