Episode 011 - Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Are you ready to go Sonic fast? Because we've sped up this episode to 2x the speed! Just kidding, but we are running very fast through the stages and music of Sonic the Hedgehog 2! Sega's mascot on the Genesis gets a facelift from his Sega Master System days on their new 16-bit system to be faster, more vibrant, and have plenty of attitude. Peter and Cody discuss what made the Sega Genesis so unique, and how that impacted the compositions created by Masato Nakamura as he utilized not one but two sound chips!

As promised in the episode, here's a breakdown of Green Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog and how those two chips worked side by side: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_JYEdwvemk

Question of the Episode: Which sound chip did you prefer more, the SNES or the Sega Genesis? Make sure you answer this and any of our previous questions on Twitter @DeepBassPodcast. As always, thanks for listening, and please be sure to subscribe to the podcast so you don't miss any future episodes!
