19 year old Ashley Wadsworth flew from her home in Canada to live in the UK with her boyfriend, Jack Sepple, 23. The couple met online when Ashley was only 12 years old and Jack was 15. Jack was grooming Ashley on Facebook and had a long history of violence against women which Ashley and her family were not aware of. During the pandemic, Jack became violent and Ashley found herself trapped in an increasingly dangerous situation. After a prolonged attack Jack murdered Ashley in February 2022, stabbing the teenager over 90 times.
In this episode of #Dead2Me: The Interviews, criminologist Dr Honor Doro Townshend speaks to Ashley Wadsworth's mother, Christy Gendron, and detective Rebecca Mason who has worked with domestic abuse teams.
