The Main South Woodsman: Lives Lost, Voices Heard

In this deeply personal episode, we revisit one of New England’s most haunting unsolved cases—the Main South Woodsman. Between 2002 and 2004, at least three Hispanic women—Carmen Rudy, Betzaida Montalvo, and Dinelia Torres—disappeared from Worcester’s Main South neighborhood. All were mothers. All were survivors of addiction and sex work. And all were later found murdered and left in remote wooded areas.

We honor their lives, share their stories, and dive into the investigative gaps that have left their families without answers for over two decades. We also explore the man once named a person of interest, the institutional biases that stalled progress, and the voices that refuse to let these women be forgotten.

This episode is not just true crime—it’s advocacy, remembrance, and a call for justice.

👉 If you have any information related to this case, please contact the Worcester Police Department or Cold Case New England.

🗣️ Pronunciation Guide (out of respect for the women and their families):

  • Carmen Rudy — KAR-men ROO-dee

  • Betzaida Montalvo — bet-SY-da mon-TAL-vo

  • Dinelia Torres — di-NEE-lee-ah TOR-rez
