Send us a text USS PETTIT (DE-253) was a Coast Guard manned, Edsall-Class destroyer escort which escorted convoys in the Atlantic protecting ships and chasing U-Boats. After V-E Day PETTIT also served in the Pacific Theatre and searched for possible allied survivors on various islands.
