Lauren Elizabeth Harris, Alejandro Valtierra and Aash Patel were inspired to create Damsels in the DMs x The Come Up Podcast through their experiences as up and coming artists and the struggles they faced along the way. There was no textbook to become an artist, no guidebook to follow, and they felt that becoming an artist often felt limited to a privileged class because of a lack of access. This podcast looks at successful artists and finds out how they became who they are, what they did, and what challenges they faced along the way. The podcast looks at a multitude of different paths and considers art as a broad spectrum, hoping to offer tools to allow others to achieve the path they desire to success, however that looks to them. With roots as a dating podcast, we will also take a holistic approach of looking at the arts as a business and find out how various creators achieve balance within their personal lives as well. Are you ready for the come up?

How to Book the Room Starring Casting Director Alexis Winter
Self taping can often feel like you're auditioning into a vacuum. Casting Director Alexis Winter (the offices of Laray Mayfield, Rich Delia, Courtney Bright and Nicole Daniels, Tamara Notcutt, Gail Goldberg and Sheila Jaffe) breaks down for us myths about self taping, how to book the audition, and how she first got into casting working on the iconic One Tree Hill. Alexis explains why the strike is so important, noting that 87% of SAGAFTRA members do not qualify for health insurance, where the minimum pay requirement to meet it is 26,000. She discusses how actors can stay warm during the strike, and how it effects the industry beyond actors and writers. Listen in for an incredibly informative episode!
