7. Our First Celebrity Guest Ft. Tom

Brian catches up with his first guest of the series - Tom Rowley.  Tom is a teacher working in a hybrid learning environment / distance education school. Many of the kid's Tom works with are children with high needs who have been through the traditional schooling system without success. Tom details his observations from working with these children, and how some of the decisions and actions we make as parents can assist with helping our children thrive. Brian and Tom deep dive on issues such as technology, abuse and learning styles, as well as the importance of building relationships. There is a change in teaching styles developing, based on evolving research, away from a power based dynamic between teacher/ parent and child, working with the child and respecting their ability to make decisions and have some power and control in their learning environment.

Brian and Tom also reminisce about some of their younger years. Brian and Tom played 1st grade cricket together at Toombul District Cricket Club, and started a business together to help them get through university in their early years of friendship - Fuel the Fire Sportz.
