🟢 One thing you'll notice about Christina is that she puts a lot of effort into building her personal brand. She firmly believes, "I’m my brand and my brand is me."
🟢 Back in 1999, Christina decided to take matters into her own hands. She wasn't happy with the quality of lip glosses out there, so she launched her own beauty line. Over time, this hobby evolved into a successful D2C business by the 2020s.
🟢 After some unsuccessful attempts with paid advertisements on different platforms, Stef decided to stop spending money on things that didn't yield results. Now, she depends entirely on her product and her loyal customer base to spread the word.
🟢 To keep expenses in check, Stef transformed half of her kitchen into a production facility. She continues to handle everything, from production to packaging and shipping, all on her own.

Here is the 20th episode of our D2CVille Stories Series, where we showcase outstanding D2C entrepreneurs who are the best of the best! Oh god, it’s really hard to believe we did 20 of those podcasts! 🕺💃
👞 In our latest episode, we chatted with David Even, the founder of Primal Insoles. Primal Insoles makes cork insoles in an eco-friendly way. What's remarkable is that when these insoles are no longer usable, they take them back and recycle them!

https://www.d2cville.com/newsletter?utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=post
Now, back to the good stuff:
🟢 It all began when David, still an MBA student, brought Primal Soles into existence. And guess what? He even bagged the Responsible Business Education Award from the Financial Times for this remarkable initiative! This incredible journey eventually led him to participate in a panel at the Annual Davos Meeting organized by WEF. And let me tell you, things have been on the fast track ever since!
🟢 What makes cork truly exceptional is its natural and 100% recyclable nature, and that's precisely what Primal Soles is all about! When a pair of our insoles reaches the end of its life, they don't just toss them aside. Instead, they collect them from customers and recycle them to craft brand-new products! This sustainable approach ensures that a whopping 50% of all their new products are created from recycled materials. ♻️
🟢 But here's the kicker: David isn't just passionate about sustainability; he's also a savvy entrepreneur who knows the ins and outs of running a D2C business. Our conversation ranged from paid advertising to inventory management! David's got a wealth of knowledge, and we had a blast discussing it all!

👋👋 Hi wonderful people of the D2C community, building great brands and products out there!
Let me present the 19th episode of our D2CVille Stories Series, where we showcase amazing D2C entrepreneurs who are the best of the bests!
In this latest episode, we had a great chat with @Joey Walsh, the founder of HockeyStickMan. The hockey equipment brand is based in Canada but offers it wide variety of products to international markets!
Before we get started, we have something special for you – the D2CVille Newsletter! Your backstage pass to all things D2C. Get tips from D2C experts and join a vibrant community by subscribing to it at:
https://www.d2cville.com/newsletter?utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=post
Now, back to the good stuff:
🟢 Joey is a true hockey enthusiast. 🏒 With years spent managing programs for the British Columbia Hockey Association and even rubbing shoulders with the 2010 Olympics Committee, he's basically got a Ph.D. in all things hockey. And he couldn’t help but notice the problem hockey players had: High prices of the equipment.
So, in 2011, he launched HockeyStickMan as a side hustle, fixing up broken hockey sticks. But guess what? That little venture turned into a full-blown business in no time!
🟢Always trying to keep the costs to a minimum, Joey decided to never use paid ads. His secret sauce? Good old-fashioned word-of-mouth. But things changed very recently when Joey decided to give paid promotions a chance, with a modest monthly budget of $5,000.
The results? They are simply UNBELIEVABLE! They achieved a return on ad spend around 10x and have been growing by 2 times for the last couple of years!
🟢 But wait, how do they keep the prices low, though? They have exclusive agreements with professional teams that let them score brand-new gear on the cheap. Plus, their connection game is strong with suppliers over in China. Still, sourcing is a big pain in the back!
So if you're looking for a great quality hockey stick, check HockeyStickMan!

Now, back to the good stuff:
🟢 You're probably familiar with the common sentiment: Inventory can be a real necessary evil. Especially in the world of Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) businesses, where the sexier aspects like marketing usually steal the spotlight, while the finer points of supply chain management tend to linger backstage. Yet, Izzy took a distinctive path. With a family background in manufacturing and a genuine understanding of supply chain intricacies, Izzy elevated himself above the usual supply chain practices. 🚚🏭⛓
🟢 In 2012, Izzy launched his own D2C home and kitchen brand. He later evolved it into a closed marketplace, gaining customer satisfaction and lower prices by carefully curating sellers on his website and implementing direct shipping from manufacturers to end customers.
🟢 Just last year, Browze shook things up by establishing a fulfillment center in China. The results were nothing short of spectacular: quicker deliveries, seamless USPS tracking, and a whopping 40% surge in profit margin. Witnessing the game-changing impact, Izzy didn't stop there. Riding the wave of Browze's success, Izzy then extended an open invitation to other DTC brands, leading to the birth of Portless!
If you're looking for affordable home and kitchen products, check Browze!
For your supply chain issues, check out Portless!
