In 2019, André Daughtry visited the Indigenous Misak people in Colombia for the first time. He learned that many Indigenous communities in the region are resisting violence from both the left and right sides of politics in order to maintain traditional practices and legal rights. André’s work has centered around spirituality, leading him to seek a deeper understanding of the Misak lifestyle and their views on sustainability.
However, it has been a long journey to gain their trust and obtain permission to start the documentary project Wilderness from the community.
Listen to this week’s episode about André’s journey. I appreciate his generosity in hosting me to record this episode and sharing his philosophy on living in harmony with your artistic ambition.
André Daughtry is a Brooklyn-based interdisciplinary photography and media artist, writer, and performer.
