Sadly, last month I lost my brother to suicide. Typically when this happens we don’t talk about it - but this stigma is exactly what breeds these situations. Because of this, I am personally committed to sharing what I have learned through navigating this experience and in this episode I provide practical solutions to prevent death by suicide, and care for those affected by it using my expertise in mental health.
This is part 2 of a 2 part series.
In this second episode, you’ll learn:
1) Important topics to educate yourself upon & resources you can use to assist you in creating safe, supportive & positive spaces for your loved ones, your colleagues and practices (including how to support someone with an addiction or who might be thinking of suicide);
2) 6 things you need to start implementing to support others with their mental health (some of these suggestions will be the opposite of what you think you should do - it’s important to understand what these are);
3) How to support the men in your life with their mental health & important considerations for men’s mental health (including why many romantic partners become the sole person their male partner confides in and why this often doesn’t provide adequate support for either person in the relationship - though it’s much better than saying nothing at all);
4) How to support your own mental health as a spaceholder, coach, therapist, facilitator, consultant or other professional working in the mental health, personal development and wellbeing industry; and
5) How to best support someone affected by suicide and be supported if you lose someone to suicide.
This episode has been recorded to raise awareness on suicide, and is highly recommended for all, particularly those of you who work in the coaching, mental health, healing, helping, personal development and therapy industry.
