We are going to be discussing the “Greatest Year in ‘Your’ wrestling Territory”. Our panelist are also going to be trying to sell you on why that year in their home territory might be the best in the modern era of wrestling. Obviously when we are talking the “Modern” era we are talking in the Territory era that let into the “golden era” of the national expansion of the business and to where we are here in 2025. So let’s go ahead and introduce our panel & the ringleader of the chaos tonight!
Guest Host
Brian Young is a writer, researcher, historian, enjoys a good cigar and podcast host, specializing in boxing, boxing history & actual history. His show will be kicking back up soon enough & that is Transatlantic History Rambling.
Guests
George Schire is a life long wrestling fan & grew up in one of the hotbeds, that being the AWA. As a kid, George found a way to escape the troubles of his life by being glued to the TV set then later traveling to see every live “card” in the Twin Cities as well as many more throughout the region, eventiually becoming involved in all aspects of the business, and his book details the behind-the scenes accounts of important matches from 1954 to 1990 as well as the personalities both in and out of the ring of the AWA in his book Minnesota’s Golden Age of Wrestling (from Verne Gagne to the Road Warriors). He also runs George Schire’s Wrestling TIme Machine group on Facebook! His year of choosing is the AWA 1967
Terry Sullivan is a legendary figure from the “Detroit” teritory “Big Time Wrestling” and also a part of Big TIme Memories. He is a IBW wrestling Hall of Famer and we know and love him as an announcer & commentor, Mr. Terry Sullivan. His year and area he is arguing for is Michigan/Ohio territory from 1972.
Rodney West literally grew up in pro wrestling, as he is the son of the legendary NWA referee and booker Ron West. He also co-hosts the Pro Wrestling Inside and Out Podcast with his brother Brent West along with Jack Lord. Rodney will be defending the year 1978 Georgia Championship Wrestling
