My Name is Akilah, I come from a fundamental and VERY traditional Christian world and I have ALOT to say. Meaning: I’ll say and talk about things that isn’t “status quo” bravely. I LOVE to read and speak with authors. I also have an opinion about everything and I am good at giving (unsolicited) advice. LOL. Here I will discuss topics that include: femininity, taboo topics pertaining to sex, pop culture and everything in between. You can expect humor, sometimes tears and realness.

The Francesco Paladino Show- "The Fear Factor: Part 1"

Francesco Paladino is a classically trained actor, member of the Screen Actor’s Guild, and a writer of many things since the 1990s. He has been seen in major films, Netflix’s Orange is the New Black and a funny regular as “man on the street” on The Wendy Williams Show.

Francesco has had an extensive stand-up comedy career opening for Gilbert Godfrey and Judy Gold. His many years of comedy led to his opportunities of motivational public speaking which then led him to becoming a certified life coach. Francesco is grateful for his colorful journey and regularly performs, writes, and cohosts the podcast Later This Week with Coco and Fran.

This summer, he will be a featured live speaker at the national Mental Health America conference in Washington, DC; where he will address healing fear through laughter. You can find Francesco on IG here and he is true Nina Simone fan. His most recent post on her quote, " Freedom means NO FEAR" was riveting. Please see below for part of his writing:

"Care about what people think, but don’t care about what EVERYONE thinks. You know who cares about you, but they are not always the same person who understands you. Parents are not always the best support systems. They seek stability and insurance over happiness and risk. Seek out mentors and leaders you can follow into the light. You will always find someone who gets you.

Be honest when talking about fear. If you are afraid of something, identify it. “Being lazy” is not a real thing. Call yourself out on your excuses. Start saying “yes” even when the solution seems to not be available yet. Eventually fear gets the hint and moves to another state. They will come back some days and visit, but you can always decide how long they stay"- Francesco Paladino.
