Ruim anderhalf jaar geleden was het zo ver. Na jaren van overleggen, consultaties, ontwerpteksten en uiteindelijk definitieve teksten, trad MiFID II – 1 jaar later dan gepland – in werking. Vanaf 3 januari 2018 moesten alle beleggingsondernemingen in Europa aan MiFID II voldoen.

Ik hoor u denken: “Januari 2018? Oud nieuws! Dat is nu toch niet meer relevant?”. Het tegendeel is echter waar. De Europese toezichthouder: ESMA, de Europese Commissie en de Nederlandse toezichthouder: AFM hebben de afgelopen 1,5 jaar niet stil gezeten.
