this is a weird one, albeit one I had thought of doing for months - with the Christmas break, I finally had the time to pick the right tracks and blend them together as well as I could. anyone who knows me for some time knows I started listening to dance music through trance - and that never quite went away. a few of my friends receive the occasional message of "evidence of a trance revival #2456" together with a video of Charlotte de Witte, SDC or anyone else closing their sets with trance classics. unfortunately - and I only found this recently - there is ample literature on a "trance revival" anytime since 2010, which put together proves the very opposite. anyway, I thought I'd try and have a go at this. those who don't like and never liked trance will probably not enjoy this as much, but feel welcome to give it a try; those who do or did at some point, please stick around.

I tried to stay away from the 'epic'-euphoric-cheesy-hands-in-the-air trance of the late 90s that precisely put off so many people; what I aimed to do instead was to find links between darker, albeit melodic tracks from back when and newer releases that are either techno-based current takes on trance by techno artists such as Charlotte de Witte, Dusty Kid or Reinier Zonneveld) or Calvin Logue's Mysteryland. Am I fully aware that I'm probably (save for one or two exceptions) the only person that will have read this post? Absolutely. But since I had fun writing it anyway, thought it wouldn't hurt to post either.

tracklist (this being a special set, I added the year of each track):

01. Link - Amenity (1992)

02. Der Dritte Raum - Hale Bopp (1998)

03. PQM - You Are Sleeping (PQM Meets Luke Chable Vocal Pass) (2003)

04. Tilt - The World Doesn't Know (Original Mix) (2005)

05. Dusty Kid - The Arsonist (Original Mix) (2015)

06. Calvin Logue - Mysteryland (2018)

07. Sasha - Xpander (12" Remastered Version) (1999)

08. Aril Brikha - Winter (2007)

09. Edward Artemiev - Resurrection (Reinier Zonneveld 2020 Remix)

10. Jerome Isma-Ae - Hold That Sucker Down (Charlotte de Witte Trance Remix) (2020)

11. Josh Wink - Higher State of Consciousness (Dex & Jonesey's Higher Stated Mix) (1996)

12. Emmanuel Top - Acid Phase (1995)

13. Yves Deruyter - Back To Earth (Rave Mix) (2000)

14. Jones & Stephenson - The First Rebirth (Charlotte de Witte Rework) (2017)
