We discuss the 2007 comedy musical Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story written by Judd Apatow & Jake Kasden. This movie stars John C. Reily, Jenna Fischer, Tim Meadows, Kristen Wiig and a slew of some of the best comedic actors. "Following a childhood tragedy, Dewey Cox (John C. Reilly) follows a long and winding road to music stardom. Dewey perseveres through changing musical styles, an addiction to nearly every drug known and bouts of uncontrollable rage, until finally, he wins the heart, but not necessarily the body, of his loyal backup singer, Darlene (Jenna Fischer)."
The film is very much a product of parody for such films like Walk The Line, Ray, and many other musician based biopic films. The boys discuss Gooning, The Goon, and Goon June. Meanwhile it's revealed that Cody jizzes wine. John C. Reilly is actually singing in this film and is also a blue/country singer with his own band. Who's funnier, John C. Reilly or Will Ferrell? He also has a lot of range with such projects as Boogie Nights, Gangs of New York, & Winning Time. Anthony reveals this is his favorite movie. The comedy is so well written that even the dumb jokes are not just pulled out of the air but well crafted. John C. Reilly is capable of crying on command. Anthony shares a ghostly story that occurred in his basement. Did LSD open Anthony to being susceptible to being possessed by the devil? It's hands on sight for any guy named Schuyler!

This week on Comics and Chronic we’re marking our milestone 300th episode with Zack Snyder’s 300 based off the cult classic graphic novel by Frank Miller.
In 480 B.C. a state of war exists between Persia, led by King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and Greece. At the Battle of Thermopylae, Leonidas (Gerard Butler), king of the Greek city state of Sparta, leads his badly outnumbered warriors against the massive Persian army. Though certain death awaits the Spartans, their sacrifice inspires all of Greece to unite against their common enemy.
We made it to episode 300 despite Cody’s sabotage attempts at a comedy festival & Anthony’s desire to change our name. But first Jake learns how to correctly pronounce Bon Iver. This movie is stacked with actors such as Gerard Butler, Lena Headey, Dominic West, Michael Fassbender, & others. Is this movies ableist? This is a dude’s DUDE movie. Men killing, sweaty CGI and, boobies, murder, blood, wolves, cripples everything a man needs to see to feel like a man. Also gave rise to one of cinema’s most famous lines: “THIS IS SPARTA!” This is easily o e of or if not Zack Snyder’s best movie. Some great fight scenes and cinematography even with the CGI. It’s also almost page for page the comic 300. Could the Hot Boys have held the hot gates? Where does 300 rank on Zack Snyder’s movies with fans? Anthony’s childhood is similar to that of a boy’s childhood in 300? Did this movie destroy what the ideal male body should look like? But first Cody gives an assessment on his second go around on James Gunn’s Superman. This is some of Tim Sale’s finest most gorgeous artwork. Does Jake hate Kansas and rural America? Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale capture the golden age of superheroes perfectly. A lot of this team’s comics have bitter sweet and open endings, they’re never quite a “happy ending”. Jake drops some his take on Hope. Superman is a CHONKY Boy in this story. There’s very little action this story but only because the story is what drives it and allows the art to shine. Lex Luthor utilizes Super COVID-19 to attack Metropolis. Are there vague whispers of another season of Sopranos September? Cody reveals he’s part Italian and therefore hates himself? This week on Comics and Chronic we discuss the 2005 Fantastic Four movie! With a star studded cast including Chris Evans, Jessica Alba, Loan Gruffudd, Michael Chiklis, and Julian McMahon this might be the gold standard, or only standard, for Fantastic Four casting. Early 2000’s Marvel appears to be very anti-corporate sentiment. Does this movie actually deserve the hate it gets? Epically when it’s way better than the 2015 Fantastic 4. However, this movies does have its flaws such as reducing Sue Storm to mere eye candy when she’s not even that kind of character in the comics. Jake would sell out Anthony & Cody to be with Jessica Alba. Why is this Dr. Doom just Electro from Amazing Spider-Man 2? This movie does have a banger soundtrack. Is there a cool way to do Mr. Fantastic’s powers? Once the movie starts to find its footing it ends. Is it past time we discuss the Thomas Jane Punisher? The cheesy vibe of the movie matches the energy of FF. Should Reed Richards be called Mr. Cucktastic? The Fantastic 4 is really a reflection of the dynamic of us on the podcast.
