About one half of Americans now get their news, sometimes, or often, from social media. Often this news is raw and uncontrolled featuring images of blood, violence, sounds of gun fire, screaming or pictures of people injured or dying. In addition to that about 51% of kids now get their first cell phone between the ages of 9 and 11. The combination of these two trends means that our children are more aware of tragedies than children have ever been.
