Thomas Aquinas on John 6:35-44 | Drawn by the Father - Part 1 | ep. 005
In this episode, I explain how irresistible grace is a doctrine that arises by a careful study of John 6:35-44. I also look to Thomas Aquinas’ commentary on the part of the passage where Christ says that of that given to Him He loses nothing, and how he attempts to reconcile that with John 17:12, where Christ says that none have been lost except the son of perdition.
Aquinas has two categories for those who place their faith in Christ, and I believe that is where he and Calvin (and myself) diverge on this issue. There are those justified by grace through faith in Christ, and there are those who are not.
