Rod Wilson joined Victoria Police at the age of 18 years old back in 1976. Rod would spend 43 years as a police officer, 13 of which as a homicide detective before moving through the ranks to superintendent.
Rod has arrested a lot of offenders in his time, one of which was Paul Denyer, the frankston serial killer who in 1993 murdered 3 young women. During this time Denyer killed 18 year old Elizabeth Stevens walking home from the bus stop, 22 year old Deborah Fream who was out getting milk for her 12 day old son and 17 year old Natalie Russll who was walking home from school.
We reflect on Rod’s career and what it’s like to investigate murders from started the investigation through to ultimately putting hand cuffs on the culprit.
