In this interview we cover many topics such as “what is therapy, and why does it work?” Why is the dialogue between neuroscience and therapy important? Why is evolutionary psychology important for therapists to know about and how do we regulate each other neurobiologically through therapy and otherwise? Finally, we touch on his theory of core shame, his technique called shuttling and his concerns about how technology may be impacting brain development. As a bonus, we did a round of rapid fire questions. We end by covering his personal journey, as he becomes a student of carl rogers, and E.O Wilson, to his meeting with Dan Siegel, and Alan Schore.
