Special collections libraries and archives shape the work of historians and other researchers by preserving and making accessible the records of our shared past. Yet they are also complex, vibrant institutions immersed in the changing social, cultural, academic, and information landscape of the 21st century. What challenges and opportunities to special collections libraries face, especially in an era of rapidly evolving information technology?
