She works as a translator and painter and is a mother of two teenagers. She has been facilitating climate conversations since 2019 and has hosted 43 conversations with a collective impact of having reached 300 people! In this episode we speak with Jemima Williamson-Wong. She is a law and sustainable development student and activist. Growing up in Western Australia with the constant threat of bushfires, Jemima quickly understood the impacts of a warming planet and wanted to take action personally. In this episode, we meet Tanaya Joshi who was a fellow in our 2022 Climate Change and Fundraising Fellowship. Tanaya currently works at the environmental charity Earthwatch as their Impact and Communications Officer. She speaks with our C4C podcast host Kirtana about her shift from a background in science to the climate space after graduating with a Masters in Environment and Sustainability. She discusses why she joined C4C and shares actionable steps on how to inspire others in the Climate Change movement. Tanaya comes to us from Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung country.
An important aspect of Climate for Change’s facilitator training is learning to tell your story. Through sharing our stories of inspiration and change we can connect on a personal level with people when we talk about climate change and the need for action. We also get to know ourselves better, and connect more deeply with our purpose. In this episode we meet James Hasler-Bail, from Meanjin, Brisbane. James shares with us his personal narrative, which he developed through his training with C4C. James also talks about his experiences with the program, and what inspires him to keep having conversations about climate change.
Tanya Waldie found her roots in Brisbane, and like many others has been impacted by the floods there. In this episode she describes how she has been having conversations about climate for a long time, and how volunteering with Climate for Change she learned how to turn emotions into action. Tanya is joined in this conversation by her young daughter Penny, who brings positivity and inspiration to the episode!
In this episode we meet Suzanne Mungall, who lives on Wakka Wakka Country in South Burnett, South East Queensland. Suzanne is part of an agricultural community, where there is a coal-fired power station in the town. Suzanne shares her story of joining Climate for Change, her growing confidence as a climate activist, and how even the smallest conversations about climate change are having an impact.
In this episode, Neil shares his journey from business management to climate activism. He talks about how he sees the role of conversation in driving community action and change, and how his two young granddaughters inspire his work with Climate for Change. Neil lives in Meanjin (Brisbane) on Turrbal Country.
Amy-Beth lives on Awabakal land in Newcastle and she considers herself an ordinary Australian with an extraordinary love for the environment. After a few years engaging in climate activism, Amy-Beth became a volunteer facilitator with climate for change in 2021.
