The serpent's lie is that God is a liar, which makes Eve doubt God's intentions and ultimately leads her to sin. The devil's strategy is to destroy Eve's relationship with God by telling her a lie, making her doubt that God is good and has her best interest in mind. At the heart of every single sin is a mistrust of God, and if one knew God, they would be overwhelmed by His love, mercy, and compassion, and would never doubt Him again.
