Classic Radio Theater features great radio programs that warmed the hearts of millions for the better part of the 20th century. Host Wyatt Cox brings the best of radio classics back to life with both the passion of a long-time (as in more than half a century) fan and the heart of a forty-year newsman. But more than just “playing the hits”, Wyatt supplements the first hour of each day’s show with historical information on the day and date in history, including audio that takes you back to World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. FDR, Eisenhower, JFK, Reagan, Carter, Nixon, LBJ. It’s a true slice of life from not just radio’s past, but America’s past.
Wyatt produces 21 hours a week of freshly minted Classic Radio Theater presentations each week, and each day’s broadcast is timely and entertaining!

Classic Radio 10-19-25 - Annie Christmas, Hoodoo Ship, and the Perfect Alibi
Drama on a Sunday

First, a look at the events of the day.

Then, CBS Radio Workshop, originally broadcast October 19, 1956, 69 years ago, The Legend Of Annie Christmas starring Amanda Randolph and narrated by William Conrad.  A legendary giant Negress who started as a slave but who became a heroine to her people.

Followed by The Shadow starring William Johnstone, originally broadcast October 19, 1941, 84 years ago, The Hoodoo Ship.  The crew of a ship filled with slaves murders the Africans aboard "The Raven" in 1850. In "modern" times, "The Raven" seems to be jinxed. When two murders take place on board "The Raven," keep your eye on the bo's'on with the wooden leg!

Then, Nick Carter Master Detective starring Lon Clark, originally broadcast October 19, 1947, 78 years ago, The Case of the Perfect Alibi.  . A man pays Nick $10,000 to spend the night with him and to act as an alibi...yet still he commits murder!

Followed by Dragnet starring Jack Webb, originally broadcast October 19, 1952, 73 years ago, The Big Pill.  Two Marines are poisoned in a cheap hotel by the slightly mad "Stubby."

Finally, Lum and Abner, originally broadcast October 19, 1942, 83 years ago, Buying the Observatory Property.   All of a sudden, Squire Skimp has three buyers for the old Beauford place!
