Orbiting Zero is the debit solo by Aleš Hrdlička, a performer, juggler and magician. The piece moves between object manipulation and new magic, with the circle at its very centre. As a geometric form, Aleš Hrdlička explores in detail, testing its limits, deconstructing it and building new images from it. Rather than telling a specific story, he invites the audience to perceive the objects and situations through their own imagination. Listen to more about Orbiting Zero in the CIRQUEON CIRCUS PODCAST hosted by Veronika Jošková Štefanová and accompanied by sound design from Orbiting Zero by Oliver Torr & Jonas Balcar.

Autor/editor: Veronika Jošková Štefanová Zvuk: Petr Váně Foto: David Konečný EN: Roman Škadra: As a juggler, what intrigued me about kettlebells is their "unjugglability" Kettlebells are heavy objects that resemble a cannonball with a handle. Besides their original purpose of weighing crops, they are firmly associated with the culture of strength training and have been used by soldiers or athletes. Over the past few centuries, an object that has become a symbol of strength is given a new dimension in Roman Škadra's production "Girevik." The production "Girevik" was created as part of the CIRQUEON residency program and premiered on February 13, 2024, as part of the CIRKOPOLIS festival. Roman Škadra is a Slovak juggler and circus creator currently based in Berlin. He studied geography at Comenius University in Bratislava and in 2012 completed training in contemporary circus at Die Etage school in Berlin. His artistic work blends various techniques that explore the relationship between the body and the object. In recent years, his practice has shifted from juggling to manipulating heavy objects. How to find fragility in strength and how to give sports equipment a new meaning? Slovak artist Roman Škadra was one of the guests at the Korespondance festival, where he presented both his older project "Absurd Hero" and his new work "Girevik." We also bring you this podcast from the festival. Enjoy listening, wishes Veronika Jošková Autor/editor: Veronika Jošková Štefanová Sound: Petr Váně Photo: David Konečný
