Justice and Mercy

Everyday Jesus | Justice and Mercy

September 29, 2019 / Jordan Weeks

As a suffering servant, Jesus is well known for his extravagant mercy towards the outcast and marginalized of his society. However, as a King ushering in the Kingdom of Heaven, he boldly proclaimed judgement and promised to set things right. While we often see justice and mercy in opposition, Jesus saw the importance of both. At the cross he makes it possible to see both justice and mercy established in our world. And his Spirit is changing all our interactions, from the way we treat those in poverty to the way we treat those in our home and workplace. He changes us and He is changing our neighbourhoods.

Biblical Text: Micah 6:1-8
