We got the HILARIOUS Mike Cannon joining us and learning with us🙌 Elagabalus was a Roman emperor who ruled from 218 to 222 AD. His short reign was notorious for sex scandals and religious controversy. He was known to have many parties, and at one point have a relationship with his chariot driver Hierocles. Elagabalus would beautify himself with cosmetics, makeup and wigs, and liked to be called Hierocles’s mistress, wife and queen. Real quick backstory: Born in 203 AD in Syria, he became emperor at 14 after the assassination of his cousin, Caracalla. Elagabalus is well known for his eccentricities, including promoting the worship of the Syrian sun god Elagabal, which sparked controversy in Rome. His reign was marked by religious innovation, scandalous behavior, and political instability.
